What is Monetary Conditions Index (MCI)?

Monetary Conditions Index is a measurement of the weighted sum of changes in short-run interest rate and the exchange rate which is aimed at showing how effective monetary policies are on the economy. A change in MCI is interpreted as tightening or easing of the monetary conditions.
