What is Money Supply?

Money Supply or money stock is the total amount of currency and other liquid assets circulating within an economy. The money supply data is recorded and published to the public by the government or central bank of a country. The volume of money supply can have an impact on interest rates and therefore affecting the rest of the economy either positively or negatively. Different types of money are measured by classes, M0, MB, M1, M2, M3 and MZM with M0 being a narrow range to M3 being a broader range.
